Frequently requested materials

Aluminium is an ideal material for CNC milled parts and is widely used. This is because it is a versatile, lightweight metal with a remarkably high strength-to-weight ratio, natural corrosion resistance thanks to the formation of a protective oxide layer, and excellent electrical and thermal conductivity.

It can be milled very well, enabling high cutting speeds and high-quality, almost mirror-like surface finishes when producing milled aluminium parts. The low cutting forces protect the tool and machine. The key advantage of CNC-milled aluminium parts is their low weight and high stability, making them superior to steel in many applications. This is why CNC milling of aluminium is firmly established in industries such as aerospace, automotive and mechanical engineering.

However, particular challenges include thermal expansion and the formation of long chips, requiring reliable cooling for process control.

Frequently requested:

  • EN AW-5083 | 3.3547 | AlMg4.5Mn
  • EN AW-5754 | 3.3535 | AlMg3
  • EN AW-6060 | 3.3206 | AlMgSi0.5
  • EN AW-7075 | 3.4365 | AlZnMgCu1.5

Steel and stainless steel are essential materials for heavy-duty CNC-milled parts. Both metals are characterised by their extreme hardness, strength and durability, with stainless steel also offering excellent corrosion protection. Although CNC milling requires higher cutting forces, it produces extremely robust and precise milled parts.

The main advantages of these parts lie in their superior mechanical strength and high wear resistance. For this reason, CNC-milled steel parts are firmly established in mechanical engineering, tool and mould making, and the automotive industry. Thanks to its additional corrosion resistance, stainless steel is used in the medical technology, food, chemical, pharmaceutical and aerospace sectors.

The challenge when milling these materials with a CNC machine lies in the high tool wear and strong heat development, which requires adapted manufacturing strategies. Despite the higher costs, production is economical when maximum stability is required.

Frequently requested:

  • 1.0037 | S235JRC+C | St37k
  • 1.0503 | C45
  • 1.4301 | V2A
  • 1.7131 | 16MnCr5

For the production of highly specialized CNC milled partsthe choice of the right material is crucial. In addition to steel and aluminium, we produce a wide range of CNC-milling procedure made of non-ferrous and special metals.

  • Copper (OF-Cu | 2.0040): As a material with excellent electrical and thermal conductivity, copper is the first choice for CNC-milled parts in electrical engineering and energy technology, e.g. for electrodes or heat exchangers. The Milling copper requires sharp tools and good chip removal.
  • Brass (Ms58 | CuZn39Pb3 | 2.0401): For high-precision and economical CNC-milled parts brass is often the first choice. Thanks to its unsurpassed machinability, this alloy enables particularly fast production of complex geometries with excellent surface quality. It is therefore the ideal material for sophisticated components such as valves, fittings or precision engineering components.
  • Bronze (CuSn8 | 2.1030): The high wear resistance and excellent emergency running properties make bronze a key material for CNC milled parts in mechanical engineering. The alloy minimizes friction and prevents galling at high contact pressure, making it ideal for durable components. Typical applications include CNC-manufactured plain bearings, highly stressed bushings and wear-resistant gear wheels.
  • Titanium (Ti Gr 5 | Ti6Al4V | 3.7165): When maximum performance is required, there is no way around titanium. It is the ultimate material for CNC-milled partswhich must be extremely lightweight, high-strength and absolutely corrosion-resistant at the same time. This unique combination makes it indispensable in the aerospace industry and for biocompatible implants in medical technology. We master the demanding machining process with special expertise and adapted processes to ensure the uncompromising quality of your components.

CNC-milled plastic parts are a versatile and often superior alternative to metal. CNC milling harnesses their unique properties to create high-precision, functional components.

Key advantages include low weight for lightweight construction and dynamic components, high corrosion and chemical resistance for use in medical technology or aggressive environments, and excellent electrical insulation for electronics.

Production is also very cost-efficient as plastics allow high cutting speeds with minimal tool wear, reducing costs. Specific materials expand the possibilities: POM offers excellent sliding properties for bearings and gears, while transparent PMMA is ideal for viewing windows. However, overcoming challenges such as the low melting point and high thermal expansion requires expertise. This can be achieved using sharp tools and reliable cooling, often with compressed air, to prevent deformation and guarantee maximum precision and surface quality.
