Challenge: Safety-critical components with seamless material traceability
CERN needed replacement shields for neutron shielding for the Compact Muon Solenoid Experiment (CMS) at the Large Hadron Collider - the existing structures were radioactively contaminated. The requirements are similar to those in the aerospace and defense sectors: precise, large-scale components, tight time frames, full material traceability and simulation-based approval processes.
The decisive factor was that the exact chemical composition of the steel batch was already available during the quotation phase - the basis for the internal radiation protection simulation and official approval by CERN. A requirement that is also standard for safety and approval-relevant parts in the aerospace and defense industry.
Solution: Digital procurement with complete material documentation
FACTUREE provided the chemical analysis of the planned steel batch before the order was placed. High-strength steels
High-strength steels combine high tensile strength, toughness and wear resistance - indispensable for safety-critical components under extreme mechanical loads. In CNC machining, they require adapted cutting parameters and tools, but deliver components with maximum dimensional accuracy and a long service life. Aerospace, defense and heavy engineering rely on high-strength steels wherever failure is not an option.

Titanium alloys
Titanium has a unique strength-to-weight ratio and excellent corrosion and temperature resistance. Machining is demanding and requires specialized expertise - the result is components that can withstand extreme conditions in engines, aircraft structures and space systems. Titanium is the material of choice when weight and reliability are equally important.

Aluminium alloys
Aluminum combines low weight with high strength and excellent machinability - ideal for complex geometries on 5-axis milling machines with tight tolerances. Aerospace and defense industries use aluminum alloys for structural parts, housings and chassis components.

High-temperature & special materials
Inconel, Hastelloy and Waspaloy retain their mechanical properties even at temperatures well above 1,000 °C. They are resistant to corrosion and oxidation under the most extreme conditions. This makes them indispensable for engine components, combustion chambers and space drives. Machining these materials requires the highest level of expertise and specialized manufacturing processes.

We work with manufacturing partners who AS 9100 / EN 9100 and ISO 9001 certified are. For special manufacturing processes such as heat treatment and coating, we have NADCAP-accredited partners are available.
Each component is fully documented and traceable. We offer Initial sample inspection according to AS 9102 / EN 9102 and tool certificates according to EN 10204 3.1 Our traceability covers the entire production life cycle.
Defense projects require absolute discretion. FACTUREE anonymizes your drawings and protects them through NDAs with all manufacturing partners. On request, we can provide you with an NDA immediately or develop a customized agreement for your requirements.
We support compliance and export control through BAFA-compliant processing, advice on the EU Dual-Use Regulation 2021/821. We also offer customized framework agreements for long-term price stability and planning security - perfect for the strategic procurement of drawing parts.
