Here is an overview of frequently requested materials. For a detailed list, please visit our extensive material list.

Frequently requested materials

Aluminum is a lightweight, robust metal with excellent corrosion resistance. It is particularly valued in CNC turning as it is very easy to machine. This property enables high cutting speeds, resulting in short machining times and economical production.

Aluminum is therefore ideal for precise turned parts with intricate contours and high surface quality - ideal for prototypes and series production.

Industries such as the automotive industry, aerospace, mechanical engineering and electrical engineering rely on CNC turned parts made of aluminum.

Frequently requested:

  • EN AW-5083 | 3.3547 | AlMg4.5Mn
  • EN AW-5754 | 3.3535 | AlMg3
  • EN AW-6060 | 3.3206 | AlMgSi0.5
  • EN AW-7075 | 3.4365 | AlZnMgCu1.5

Steel and stainless steel are robust materials with high strength and hardness, with stainless steel also offering excellent corrosion resistance. In CNC turning, their versatility is appreciated in order to produce heavy-duty, durable components.

They are therefore suitable for CNC turned parts that have to withstand high mechanical loads or corrosive environments.

Industries such as mechanical engineering, automotive, medical and food technology rely on the reliability of CNC turned parts made of steel and stainless steel.

Frequently requested:

  • 1.0037 | S235JRC+C | St37k
  • 1.0503 | C45
  • 1.4301 | V2A
  • 1.7131 | 16MnCr5

Choosing the right material is crucial for the production of highly specialized CNC turned parts. In addition to steel and aluminum, CNC turning offers a wide range of non-ferrous and special metals, each of which offers unique advantages for specific applications.

  • Copper turned parts (OF-Cu | 2.0040): As a material with excellent electrical and thermal conductivity, copper is the first choice in CNC turning for turned parts in electrical engineering and energy technology, e.g. for contact pins or cooling elements. Turning the soft metal requires sharp tools and good chip removal.
  • Brass turned parts (Ms58 | CuZn39Pb3 | 2.0401): Brass is an alloy that is known for its excellent machinability in CNC turning. It enables the economical production of complex turned parts with high precision and good surface quality. It is used for fittings, valves and in precision mechanics.
  • Bronze turned parts (CuSn8 | 2.1030): Bronze is characterized by high wear resistance and excellent sliding properties. It is therefore the material of choice for CNC turning of durable turned parts such as plain bearings, bushes and shafts in mechanical and plant engineering.
  • Titanium turned parts (Ti Gr 5 | Ti6Al4V | 3.7165): Titanium offers an unsurpassed strength-to-weight ratio and is extremely corrosion-resistant and biocompatible. These turned parts are indispensable in the aerospace and medical technology industries. However, CNC turning is very demanding: the low thermal conductivity concentrates the heat on the tool, which requires special cutting speeds and constant cooling to ensure high-quality components.

Lightweight, chemically resistant and electrically insulating: CNC parts made of plastic are an economical and corrosion-free alternative to metal. Materials such as PEEK or PMMA can be machined excellently at high speeds during CNC turning, which enables short process times for prototypes and series.

The industries are correspondingly diverse: CNC turned parts made of plastic can be found in medical technology (e.g. for biocompatible components), electronics (insulators), vehicle and mechanical engineering (plain bearings, bushings) and in rapid prototype construction.

Controlling the low melting point of many plastics through precise cooling and adapted cutting parameters is crucial for the production of high-quality CNC parts.

Parker Harfin logo on FACTUREE: CNC turned parts ordered for in-house production by online manufacturer

Fast, precise components are crucial for technology leader Parker Hannifin. In order to accelerate the digital transformation and optimize the internal production of CNC turned parts, which involved up to 80 % of the apprentices, a modern procurement solution was sought. Daniel Scharnowski, test bench technician, confirmed the problem, as this process was not part of the trainees' core tasks. The strategic partnership with the online manufacturer FACTUREE solved this challenge. After an evaluation phase, FACTUREE impressed with its fast response and quotation times, a broad range of CNC turning services and put an end to the tedious search for reliable suppliers.

A first order for special assembly devices proved the company's capabilities: the production of 350 highly complex CNC turned parts made of brass (CuZn39Pb3). The production required precise CNC turning with downstream milling, very tight tolerances of up to ±0.02 mm with fits and a multi-stage surface finish (copper plating, nickel plating, polishing, laser engraving). Despite this enormous complexity, FACTUREE delivered the entire components in just three weeks, ahead of the agreed deadline.

The collaboration is rated as a great success. Parker Hannifin benefits from fast, digital order processing, reliable, very short delivery times and personal support. FACTUREE's huge, ISO 9001-certified production network with over 1,500 CNC machines ensures the highest quality and free production capacity at all times.
