Golden Week 2026: How a Week of Standstill Will Push Back Your Fall Delivery Dates
Stay in the loop
From October 1 to 7, 2026, China will celebrate Golden Week. Golden Week is a weeklong nationwide holiday centered around China’s National Day on October 1. Large parts of the industrial sector come to a standstill, and millions of workers travel.
For procurement, this is more than just an entry in the calendar. A week of downtime in one of the world’s largest manufacturing facilities pushes back delivery dates that, at first glance, seem unrelated.
Why this also affects European manufacturing
The path rarely leads through the machine tool, but rather through the material. Semi-finished products, standard parts, purchased components, and chemicals for surface treatment come largely from Asia. If an item is missing, your component is held up—even if the machine in Europe were available. Then there’s freight: Demand for ocean freight picks up before the holiday week, and afterward, ports and freight forwarders work through a backlog.
Contractors are prioritizing jobs to complete them before the holiday week begins. Workloads are increasing, and available machine capacity is becoming scarce. Those who submit requests late will receive later dates than usual. After October 7, companies won’t immediately return to full capacity: staff will return gradually, and pending orders will be added to the workload. This phase lasts for weeks. For your planning, this means that even needs for November should be included in your early planning.
For multi-stage components, the delay adds up
A milled aluminum part that is subsequently anodized passes through several production stages. Each stage has its own capacity limits. If one step is delayed, all subsequent steps are pushed back. For assemblies containing multiple parts from different suppliers, the risk increases with each part.
What You Can Do Now
- Check your needs for October and November now.
- Place your orders for critical parts with us by September 4, 2026.
- For multi-stage components, please inquire early so that the quote and approval can be finalized before the deadline.
- And consider what might happen if your regular supplier is unable to deliver in the fall.
That's exactly why we're here: You upload your drawing and quickly receive an alternative from a network of more than 2,000 verified manufacturers.
Here's how it works
After uploading your file, you’ll usually receive a quote within 24 hours; delivery takes 12 business days or more. We select the right manufacturer for you; you’ll have a dedicated contact person and a single contractual partner. This applies even if your component undergoes multiple processes, from CNC machining to sheet metal fabrication, casting, and 3D printing, all the way through to surface treatment. It’s our job to ensure quality, not yours: Our quality management system is certified to ISO 9001, and your design data is protected under ISO 27001.
To ensure your parts arrive before Golden Week, we need to receive your order by September 4, 2026. Please inquire well in advance so that the quote and your internal approval can be finalized in time.
